The Language Institute can help arrange comfortable and safe accommodation for our students. You can choose between staying with an American family, in an apartment, in a student dormitory or a hotel depending on how long your stay is and your particular situation. Please note that some types of housing require deposit at the time we make arrangement.

American Host Family (Homestay)

Staying with an American family offers a valuable opportunity to combine an Intensive English program with the experience of living with an American host family. Carefully selected host families provide a dependable home for students who want to experience American culture in daily life and practice English conversation with native speakers. This is also a good option for younger students who would benefit from special attention from adults. If you plan to arrange other housing by yourself this could be a good solution for the first month or two to help you acclimate to American culture. The monthly fee includes a private bedroom, a private or shared bathroom, utilities (except long-distance phone service) and 2 meals per day.

Apartment

If you plan to stay in Los Angeles for a long time, a private apartment is another option. This is a good choice for older, independent students, who are comfortable cooking for themselves, since no meals are included. A good level of English is recommended as you will have to use it to communicate with others all the time. Due to the high demand for apartments in the area a request for an apartment must be sent to us at least 60 days before you arrive.

Dormitory

Live like an American college student, sharing a living environment with international and American students. A private dorm near our school is a great option for flexible and independent students. You can choose between a private or shared room, which is usually furnished. Meals are available. Current pricing (subject to change without prior notice):

$450/month, shared room, no meals (limited availability, please call)
$585/month, shared room, 8 meals/ week
$645/month, shared room, 16 meals/ week
$600/month, single room, no meals (limited availability, please call)
$735/month, single room, 8 meals/ week
$795/month, single room, 16 meals/ week

Hotel

If you plan to stay for a short time, or need a place to stay the first few days in the US before more long-term accommodation is ready for you, TLI can book a hotel room for you or your visiting family members near the school.
